Jade & Pearl Reusable Sea Pearl Classic Menstrual Sponge

Sea Pearls are soft, dense and durable natural sea sponges that act like a tampon to absorb menstrual flow. Used by women around the world for over 40 years, they are a reusable, completely natural alternative to disposable tampons.

Jade & Pearl Sea Sponges are free from chemicals, bleach, chlorine, fragrance, dyes and synthetic materials. Each sponge is washed, inspected, trimmed and packaged by Jade & Pearl’s expert sponge squad. Sea Pearls can also be carefully trimmed and sculptured to suit your body and flow.

Harvested by hand from the Mediterranean Sea, Atlantic, Caribbean and Bahamas, divers leave the base intact so the sponge can regrow. Sponges must be at least 12.5cm when harvested, and harvesting is prohibited in protected marine sanctuaries and coral reefs. Reusable for up to 3–6 months with proper care.

Use

1. Wet the sponge.
2. Gently insert it into the vagina.
3. Remove after 3–4 hours, or as often as required for heavier flow.
4. Rinse and repeat.

Sizes

• Small: 3.8–5.1cm for light flow and young women.
• Medium: 5.1–6.3cm for medium to heavy flow.
• Large: 6.3–7.6cm for heavy flow.
• Multi-Pack: one small, one medium and one large sponge.

If unsure, choose the larger size as sea sponges can be trimmed. Firm sea sponges are recommended for those seeking a sponge for prolapse.

Sponge Care

Clean with natural chemical-free soap or soak for 5–10 minutes in warm water with 2–3 drops tea tree oil, 1 tbsp vinegar, 1 tbsp baking soda or 1 tsp hydrogen peroxide. Rinse and squeeze out excess water.

Do not boil, use harsh chemicals or soak longer than recommended. Clean before first use, daily or every other day, if an odour develops and before storing. Ensure the sponge is completely dry before storage.

How to Trim a Sponge

Trim when dry, or carefully when wet, around the edges with scissors. Do not cut the sponge in half or rip loose pieces; trim ragged areas smooth to extend its life.
